Privacy policy
Zoggyfin collects no data. The app talks only to the Jellyfin server that you add.
In short
Zoggyfin does not collect any data. We, Zog Tech, Inc., do not receive your media, your account details, your usage or your location. The app talks only to the Jellyfin server that you add.
Who we are
Zoggyfin is made by Zog Tech, Inc. Zoggyfin is a client app for Jellyfin, media server software that you or someone you trust runs. Zoggyfin is not affiliated with the Jellyfin project.
What the app sends to your server
When you sign in, the app sends your user name and password, or a Quick Connect code, to the server address that you enter. While you use the app, it requests your libraries, artwork and media from that server. It also reports to that server what you play and how far you got, so that your server can show "Continue watching". This is how every Jellyfin client works. Your server is controlled by you or by its owner, not by us. Read the privacy terms of the server owner if the server is not yours.
What stays on your device
- The access token from your server, in the iOS keychain.
- Your server addresses, your settings and a cache of pages and images, so the app opens fast.
- Files that you download for offline use. These are not part of iCloud backups.
You can remove this data with Settings → Clear cache, by signing out, by deleting downloads, or by deleting the app.
Location and Wi-Fi
A server can have a home address and an internet address. If you turn on the Wi-Fi rule for a server, the app reads the name of your Wi-Fi network to choose the address. iOS gives the Wi-Fi name to apps only with location access, so the app asks for it. The app does not read, use or keep your location. The Wi-Fi name is compared on the device and is not sent anywhere. If you do not use the Wi-Fi rule, the app does not ask for location access.
Local network and watch together
The app uses the local network to reach a server in your home and to find nearby devices for watch together. When you host a watch-together session, nearby devices on the same network can see the name of your device and the title that you play. A device joins only after you accept it, and it can then stream the title from your device. Nothing goes through our systems. SyncPlay groups go through your Jellyfin server.
App updates
The app checks the Expo update service (operated by 650 Industries, Inc.) for small app updates. The request contains the app version and the platform. Like any web server, the update service sees the IP address of the request. The request contains no account, media or usage data.
What we do not do
- No analytics, no advertising and no tracking across apps or websites.
- No account with us. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to delete on our side.
- No sale or sharing of data. We do not have your data.
If you choose to share crash reports with app developers in the iOS settings, Apple sends us anonymous crash reports. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Zoggyfin does not collect data from anyone, including children. What a child can see depends on the server and on the parental controls of the server account.
